Giancarlo Piretti (June 8, 1940 in Bologna) is an Italian furniture designer. One of his well-known designs is the foldable plastic chair Plia, which he presented in 1967 at the Fiera del Mobile fair in Milan and has sold over four million units since 1969. Among Piretti's other designs for Anonima Castelli are the stacking chair DCS 106 (1965), the armchair Plona (1969), the chair Alky (around 1970), the tables Platone (1970) and Plano (1971, Gold Medal IBD), the coat stand Planto (1972), the modular sofa system 61 (1973), and the umbrella stand Plurium.
